Admissions

How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in enrollment at Bank Street School for Children. We welcome applications for all grade levels, from Nursery through Grade 8. Our admissions process begins in the fall of the year prior to enrollment, with an application deadline of December 1. However, we can still accept applications after December 1, but interview spots may be limited.

Our birthdate cut-off is September 1. This means that your child must be the age of the age group/grade that he/she is entering in September. For example, if you are applying for the 3/4s program, your child must be 3 years old by September 1 of the year he/she enters school.

Our admissions team is available to walk you and your family through the necessary steps. All prospective students follow a similar application process, with age-appropriate variations. For example, younger applicants are asked to participate in a playdate/interview, while Upper School prospects are assessed for their academic skills.

Application Process

  • Fill out the application.
  • Attend an Open House.
  • Select the grade level your child will enter in the 2019–2020 school year for next steps (school visits and forms to complete).
  • 3/4s (Nursery)

    Parent & Child Visit

One parent accompanies their child in a 40-minute play session in the 3/4s (Nursery) classroom.

    Parent Visit

    • Experience firsthand what takes place in a classroom.
    • Visit classrooms in the Lower School (Nursery–Kindergarten), Middle School (Grades 1–4), and Upper School (Grades 5–8).
    • At the interview, we will get to know your family, discuss what you are looking for in a school, and answer any questions you have about the admissions process.
