Bank Street School for Children is located just above the Upper West Side in New York City’s Morningside Heights, a bustling family and university neighborhood near Columbia University and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the largest Gothic cathedral in North America. Our main building is on 112th Street and just a few steps off Broadway, a busy avenue lined with shops and restaurants, and a short bus or subway ride to Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum, Broadway theaters, and all that New York City has to offer.

Morningside Heights is often referred to as the “academic acropolis,” which, in addition to Bank Street College, includes other education institutions in the area such as Columbia University, Barnard College, Teacher’s College, Jewish Theological Seminary, Union Theological Seminary, Manhattan School of Music, and Bank Street College of Education. Many of our community members also have ties to these institutions.

Bank Street School for Children is co-located with other Bank Street divisions and programs, like the Family Center, an inclusive center offering developmentally appropriate services and support for families of children ages 6 months to 5 years, and the Graduate School of Education, which offers master’s degrees and programs that prepare teachers, leaders, and other education professionals to meet the needs of all learners.
