What are your favorite School for Children memories?
So many great memories with old friends! It’s hard to choose… but easily my favorite memory (and part of my daily routine) as a student-teacher at Bank Street was working across the hall from my mother, whose shop class I took when I was one of her students.

What do you hope to accomplish by attending Alumni Weekend 2023?
I’m looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and sharing the story of how the Bank Street philosophy has influenced me in the 25 years since graduation.

What are your favorite School for Children memories?
I think back on my time at Bank Street with deep fondness for every single teacher and friend. From the 3/4s to the 13/14s, I was lucky to have a stream of fantastic teachers from Chap and David Walkenberg to Ali McKersie and Gia Moreno. I remember Block City in the 7/8s, Mock Congress in the 13/14s, magical field trips to the MET and Ellis Island, playing music with friends at the Fall Fair, singing “Revel, My Friends” more times than one could count, the murals in the stairwells, being terrified of the 10th floor. Bank Street is such an incredible institution and I feel deeply grateful to have been there during our particular era with such amazing teachers.

What do you hope to accomplish by attending Alumni Weekend 2023?
I look forward to catching up with old friends, seeing friendly faces I haven’t seen in 20 years, finding out what paths people have taken, and re-illuminating our childhood memories together.

Wade Brill, SFC ’03

Wade Brill

Occupation:
Mindfulness Coach, Speaker, and Podcast Host

What are your favorite School for Children memories?
I have so many great memories of Bank Street. Some of the initial ones that stand out are my desire to get to school early in the mornings before the bell rang and that I was always eager to hang out with my friends in the lobby and enjoy a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin from the cafeteria. As I look back at my experience, I am extremely grateful for all of my teachers and how they made learning fun and interactive. For instance, I loved learning about Greek Mythology in 8th grade and then designing large cardboard versions of the Greek Gods. This activity brought our learning to life, which is unique to the Bank Street experience.

What do you hope to accomplish by attending Alumni Weekend 2023?
I made lifelong friends at Bank Street, and it would be so special to see new and familiar faces at Alumni Weekend!
