Alex Cohen Memorial Endowment Fund

Help children experience the joy of the performing arts.

Stage Performance for Alex Cohen Memorial FundThe Alex Cohen Endowment Fund brings performing artists to the School for Children to perform and work with students on artistic presentation and expression.

For 18 years, School for Children students ages 4 through 14 have been inspired by performing artists who represent a wide range of genres and traditions from around the world. This has included theater arts, modern dance, puppetry, European art orchestral music, jazz, Balkan music and dance, Chinese opera, Javanese gamelan, storytelling, improvisational vocal percussion, mime, South Indian dance, Brazilian capoeira, West African dance and drumming, and Shakespeare, among others.

Established in 1992, the fund memorializes Alex Cohen, SFC ’86, who passed away in 1991 and whose love of theater was inspired and nurtured by the School for Children.
