The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) team includes faculty members that represent each of the divisions and specialist teams.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create more equitable experiences for all members of our community while fortifying a curricular and intrapersonal culture that creates space for a spectrum of identities.

Annual Goals

• Targeting the specific needs of the community
• Establishing a presence and building relationships with:
  • Students in the classroom through teaching new and existing curriculum and supporting affinity groups
  • Teachers through in-house workshops, co-creating workshops, and co-creating curriculum
  • Families through community events and forums, affinity groups and potlucks
• Enhancing and maintaining the existing structures that support collaboration and communication between the DEI Team, educators, and families
• Strengthening professional development opportunities for teachers and families
• Aligning our DEI mission with related beliefs and goals among all educators and families

We do this work because we acknowledge that there are people within and outside of our community who are systematically underserved and underrepresented. Our goals and strategies are intended to balance these inequities through the learning and actions that all members of Children’s Programs engage in.
