  • Grupo Paseos, Spanish Immersion (Grade 4 - 8)

The Grupo Paseos program is the Upper Camp Spanish Immersion day travelers in and around New York City.

The program focuses on the development of students’ receptive and expressive language, while creating a positive educational experience. By practicing the language both in and out of the classroom, teachers are able to make the campers feel comfortable, and help develop an appreciation and love for the Spanish language.

Like our other Spanish Immersion programs, campers will only speak Spanish, except for when they swim two to three times a week.

The Innovations in Coding and S.T.E.A.M. program is based in a recreational setting where each week campers will focus on a different aspect of science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and coding, in cooperation with Code Camp, which Bank Street Summer Camp campers loved this past summer. This program focuses on conducting experiments both in the classrooms and outside of camp.  When groups go to museums or other educational settings, specialists work with the campers to conduct a focused study of materials that the facility has unique access to.

ENSEMBLE MUSICAL THEATER — Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.
    (July 1 – August 9, closed 7/4, 7/5)
What is an ensemble? How do we honor individuality in the pursuit of a community goal? Campers will work towards performing a fully produced musical at the end of the session, building friendships and strengthening talents along the way. Responsibility and respect are challenged and developed through the rigorous rehearsal process, and campers are encouraged to dabble in a variety of artistic skills when creating sets and props. Group trips, including a Broadway show and an overnight, allow campers to witness and practice teamwork outside of the classroom, framing success as a result not of narrow mindedness but of generosity. The two theater programs will also be seeing Frozen on Broadway during their July sessions.

Each group also swims three times a week.
