Social distancing and self-quarantine will continue well past the end of school. Fortunately, the Bank Street Summer Camp staff, who have been looking forward to working with your children this summer, have developed quality, virtual, recreational programming for June 15 to July 10. You can register your child for a full day, half-day, daily drop-in, and/or afternoon programming.
Full Day: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, $250 per week
Half Day: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, $150 per week
Daily Drop-Ins: $55 based on availability, please call 24 hours in advance

Come join us for enriching days of community and activities hosted by our skilled early childhood staff. Groups will enjoy daily activities that include: the arts, design, movement, music, and interactive exploration. During Screen Breaks you have the option of closing your screen. The week is designed with a predictable schedule to keep continuity for your child, but the specific activities will change each day. There is a balance of ‘on-screen’ with ‘screen-on’ time supervised by staff. There is no program offered on Friday July 3.

GRADE 4 & Up: Coding & Technology
Participants build an interactive website and games using a combination of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. We peel back the technical curtain and show how the web is powered and how websites are constructed from code. By the end of the session each group member will have experience designing and developing multi-page dynamic websites, creating style templates, and using coding concepts like functions and variables. There is no program offered on Friday July 3.

GRADE 2 - 5: Coding Games: Learn coding by building video games
Participants learn coding fundamentals including conditional logic, variables, and loops. Making use of platforms such as Code Camp World, group members create characters and narratives, develop their sense of storytelling, and exercise their problem-solving skills. During development, games can be published for friends and caretakers to play and view progress using the Code Camp Community app. Using their unique login, each child may continue developing, sharing, and playing games using the Code Camp World platform outside of instructional time. By the end of the session participants will have experience working with X/Y coordinate systems, kinetic physics, animation and comparison operators. There is no program offered on Friday July 3.

GRADE 2 - 8: Radio Bank Street
Create and host our brand new Radio Bank Street. Our broadcasters will begin by writing stories or poems for all ages. They will conduct interviews of staff at Bank Street School for Children and will have a few guest interviews. There also will be opportunities to do short performances and variety shows. Radio Bank Street will compile news from different groups, provided by the staff, as well as announce upcoming events for the following week. Families will have the opportunity to listen or watch, making it a unique experience for both participants and the listening/viewing audience. There is no program offered on Friday July 3.

GRADE 2 - 8: Creative Theater Workshop
Participants enjoy a creative-based musical theater program where group members will collaborate with one another and write their own script based on the storybook Frog Prince. Our Creative Theater Workshop will also work together to create their own original books, music, and lyrics, as well as to design and craft their own sets and costumes. At the end of the week, the group will perform their piece as actors, dancers, and stage managers. Participants also learn the basic terminology of musicals and theater and they work hard towards a common goal, having a good time along the way. Every group member will have an essential role in the creation of the final product. All you need is a great attitude. There is no program offered on Friday, July 3.

GRADE 9 & Up: Leadership Development Program
The Leadership Development Program is designed to split program time between learning how to become effective leaders and counselors, as well as to provide an opportunity for each participant to hone these skills in the context of working with a group of children. Workshops will teach counselors how to work with children, apply for jobs, and develop their leadership skills. There will be opportunities to facilitate supervised activities with the younger members of our community. Graduates of the program will be able to have a 2-week internship next summer. There is no program offered on Friday, July 3.

Why are we only doing 4 weeks of Summer@Home?
We are considering extending our options beyond July 15 but this will be based on demand and we will know more in the coming weeks.

How do I login to my account?
Our online registration system is Campium. Once you register, you can log back in and access your account.

How do I access the virtual platform for my child?
Your Campium portal has a calendar function that has links for your child’s activities.

What is the difference between on-screen and screen-on?
On-screen time is when counselors direct the activity and participants can watch them. Screen-on time is when counselors are prompting, observing, and commenting on participant work.

Do you have Financial Aid?
We have reduced the cost of our summer programs dramatically and are unable to offer financial aid or discounts at this time.

What is your refund policy?
This summer we are not able to offer refunds as the plans, staffing, and schedule are final. The range of scheduling options should offer families all the flexibility families need.
