Counselor in Training/Acting Junior Counselor:
Counselors in Training and Acting Junior Counselors help support the group in whatever way the Head and Assistant Counselors see fit. They help supervise the daily activities as well as help facilitate group management. All applicants must have attended the Camp’s Leadership Development Program. In order to work at the Bank Street Summer Camp applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, which includes having a valid social security number. They are paid a Stipend for their help with groups and can work in either Spring Camp, Summer Camp or both.

Junior Counselor:
Junior Counselors and Acting Junior Counselors help support the group in whatever way the Head and Assistant Counselors see fit. They help supervise the daily activities as well as help facilitate group management. Juniors are allowed to be alone with small groups of campers. Junior Counselors must be over 16 years of age and must have attended the Camp’s Leadership Development Program. In order to work at the Bank Street Summer Camp, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, which includes having a valid social security number.

Assistant Counselors:
Assistant Counselors support the Head Counselors at all times. Support means both doing what the Head Counselor needs them to do over the course of the day and being able to step in as the Head Counselor when the Head Counselor is not in the room or absent for the day. Assistants help to plan the curriculum, supervise daily activities, facilitate group management, and, in the absence of Head Counselors, become the group leaders. Assistant Counselors must be over 18 years of age. To work at Bank Street Summer Camp, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, which includes having a valid social security number.

Head Counselors:
Head Counselors are responsible for planning daily curriculum, supervision of daily activities, and facilitating group management, and are the team leader for staff members in each group. It is up to the Head Counselor to regulate and maintain supervision of all campers within her or his group at all times. When families arrive in the morning, Head Counselors should greet families as they enter. Head Counselors are also the only counselors (except for Supervisory Staff) who are allowed to communicate with parents with respect to the program and/or campers within the program. Head Counselors are the Safety Counselors for their group and are certified in both Responding to Emergencies (RTE) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Head Counselors must be over the age of 21. Bachelor’s degree preferred. To work at the Bank Street Summer Camp, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, which includes having a valid social security number.

Head Counselors are needed for Science, Theater, Sports, Spanish Immersion, and all general programs. Positions are available in the Lower Camp, Middle Camp, and Upper Camp.
